What to Expect from Stage 17 of the 2024 Tour de France

After a rest day, Stage 16 presented a flat, fast stage where Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) sped to a sprint victory, Stage 17 will travel Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux to Superdévoluy over 177.8 kilometers in the moutnains with 2,850 meters of elevation gain. This is a historic day as well, as it is the first time Superdévoluy hosts a Tour de France stage finish.

The major climbs include the Col Bayard: 6.8 km climb at 7.3% average gradient, the Col du Noyer: 7.5 km climb at 8.4% average gradient, and the Côte de Superdévoluy: 3.8 km climb at 5.9% average gradient, where riders will arrive at the summit for the finish.

Time bonuses are also available at the finish for the top three of 10, 6, and 4 seconds for top 3, as well as at the intermediate summit of the Col du Noyer of 8, 5, and 2 seconds.

This mountain stage in the Southern Alps is likely to see aggressive racing, with opportunities for both breakaway attempts and battles among the overall contenders
