Stage 1 of the 2024 Tour Alsace 2024 Stage 1 was self contained in the commune of Sausheim. The opening stage was a team time trial covering a distance of 4.3 kilometers, making it a short, speedy opening to the race. The race spans 5 stages and is a 2.2 categorized UCI race. Some of the top riders to look out for in contention for the general classification win at the 2024 Tour Alsace include Tim Torn Teutenberg (German Under-23 Team), Alexandre Delettre (St. Michel–Mavic–Auber93), and Kaden Hopkins (Vendée U).
The Tour Alsace 2024 features a variety of teams from different categories, including Continental Teams (CT), Club Teams, and National Teams (NAT), which include Tudor Pro Cycling Team U23 (CT), Equipe continentale Groupama-FDJ (CT), VF Group - Bardiani CSF - Faizanè (PRT), Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development (CT), CIC U Nantes Atlantique (CT), CTF Victorious (CT), Van Rysel - Roubaix (CT), Philippe Wagner/Bazin (CT), Germany Under-23 (NAT), CC Étupes (CLUB), Astana Qazaqstan Development Team (CT), Vendée U (CLUB), Tirol KTM Cycling Team (CT), AVC Aix-en-Provence (CLUB), and BIKE AID (CT).
While only a brief amount of time to make a statement on day 1, riders had to be prepared from the first pedal stroke. In an exciting, tight race, the German Under-23 team won the day, crossing the line in 4:57. The Great Britain-based Trinity Cycling Team came in second place, one 1 second behind the German Under-23 National Team, followed by the French St. Michel–Mavic–Auber93, less than 1 econd behind Trinity.
Stage 2 is a 152.7 kilometer-long route from Reidesheim to Ferrette. The stage offers a succession of climbs and descents, putting the riders' endurance to the test. The small, winding, and hilly roads require the peleton to incorporate precise effort management throughout. After crossing the finish line in Ferrette, riders will have overcome a difficult, leg-breaking course which tests their endurance.
