Trek-Segafredo Rider Covers Stage 3 Individual Time Trial at Vuelta a San Juan in 17:43 to Capture Stage Victory

The 14.4 kilometer individual time trial through San Juan, Argentina that riders faced on Stage 3 of the 2018 Vuelta a San Juan Internacional proved to be no match for Ryan Mullen (Trek-Segafredo) as the Irish rider tore through the course in 17 minutes 43 seconds to take victory on the day.

Andres Paez (Municipalidad de Rawson Somos Todos) was the first rider to tackle the stage on the day, completing the stage in 22 minutes 26 seconds.

Jelle Wallays (Lotto-Soudal) soon held the best time of the day at 18 minutes 59 seconds before Mullen crushed the course and lowered the day's best time to 17 minutes 43 seconds.

Other riders would continue to lower the second place time previously set by Wallays, with Filippo Ganna (UAE Team Emirates) finishing the course in 18 minutes 8 seconds to take the second fastest time on the day and Rafal Majka (Bora-Hansgrohe) covering the route in 18 minutes 13 seconds for third place, but no riders could match Mullens cracking ride on the fast course.

The next stage, Stage 4, will be a lengthy 182.8 kilometer route from San Jose Jachal to Valle Fertil/Villa San Agustin, with a difficult climb facing riders at the 87 kilometer mark.
