Quick-Step Floors has been the hottest team on the WorldTour so far in 2017, and currently sit comfortably in first place as a team in the UCI WorldTour Team Rankings with 8990 UCI points.
The team has been registered in Belgium since its founding as Team Quick-Step-Davitamon in 2003, and is based in the town of Wevelgem in Belgium, known for the iconic Gent-Wevelgem race held each March. Quick-Step Floors, a flooring company, has been a title sponsor each year since the team's inception.
The Quick-Step Floors team is outfitted by Belgian sportswear manufacturer Vermarc, and wear blue and white kits branded with the Quick-Step Floors logo. The team rides Specialized bikes with Shimano components.
The Quick-Step team's most recognizable rider is the imposing German sprinter, Marcel Kittel. Kittel is a pure sprinter, who has captured nine stage victories at the Tour de France in his three appearances at the race. At last year's Tour de France, Kittel finished second in the point classification behind Peter Sagan, who has won the green jersey every year since the 2012 edition of the race. In 2017 so far, Kittel has captured seven stage victories, as well as the general classification and points classification titles at the Dubai Tour. We will surely see Kittel fighting to cross the line first during the bunch sprint stages once again at this year's Tour de France. Additionally, with the Tour setting off from Dusseldorf this year, Kittel will be looking to win for his home country.
The signing of Philippe Gilbert for the 2017 has been a major allocation by the Quick-Step team. The veteran Belgian rider had outstanding showings during the Spring Classics, which included victories at the Amstel Gold Race and Ronde van Vlaanderen, as well as runner-up finishes at E3 Harelbeke and Dwars door Vlaanderen. Gilbert also took home the general classification and sprints classification titles at Three Days of De Panne in March. While Gilbert is known more for his accomplishments at the Classics, he has been included on Quick-Step's squad for the 2017 Tour de France and will look to support the team as a veteran leader.
Quick-Step's squad for this year's Tour de France will also include accomplished riders such as Dan Martin, Zdenek Stybar, Matteo Trentin, and Gianluca Brambilla. Martin, a past winner of Liege-Bastogne-Liege and Il Lombardia, had a strong showing at last year's Tour de France, placing 9th in the general classification.
The full 2017 Tour de France squad for the Quick-Step Floors team will include Dan Martin, Marcel Kittel, Philippe Gilbert, Zdenek Stybar, Matteo Trentin, Gianluca Brambilla, Jack Bauer, Fabio Sabatini, and Julien Vermote.
