Team Sky's Elia Viviani was able to celebrate after his victory on Stage 1 of the Tour of Austria.
Stage 1 took the riders from the mountain city of Graz 193.8 kilometers to the Austrian capital city of Wien.
Around 35 kilometers into the stage, a five rider group, which included Patrick Gamper (Tyrol), Hans Leopold (WSA-Greenlife), Dominik Hrinkow (Hrinkow Advarics), Stephan Rabitsch (Felbermayr-Simplon-WELS), and Peter Amplatz (Abdul Quddus-BMC), broke away from the peloton, with Gamper and Rabitsch holding off the pack the longest until 40 kilometers remained.
With 30 kilometers until the finish for the lead group, an extensive crash broke the peloton into three groups, which allowed a group of 32 riders to jockey for the stage win at the finish.
Viviani was able to beat out Sep Vanmarcke (Cannondale-Drapac) and Jason Lowndes (Israel Academy) at the line, after the large group of 32 riders stayed tight until the end.
After his second place performance on Stage 1, Sep Vanmarcke will wear the yellow leaders jersey for Stage 2.
Markus Eibeggar will sit in 3rd place in the general classification after day 2, and holds the best Austrian rider position as well.
Stage 2 will take the riders for just under 200 km, where they will head out of the capital city of Wien and go west to the small town of Poggstall, which sits halfway between Wien and Linz.
