Verandas Willems-Crelan Rider Takes Queen Stage at 2018 Etoile de Besseges



Verandas Willems-Crelan rider Sean De Bie captured his first stage victory of the 2018 Etoile de Besseges on the 153 kilometer Stage 4 route from Chusclan to Laudun L'ardoise.

De Bie beat out fellow Belgian rider Timothy Dupont (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) at the line after almost four hours of racing on a cool Winter day in France.

After his Stage 4 victory, De Bie moves up into 5th place overall in the general classification standings, with Stage 1 and 3 winner Marc Sarreau (FDJ) remaining in the overall lead in both general classification and points standings, with an eight second gap on second place Thomas Boudat (Direct Energie) in the GC.

Milan Menten regained his place atop the best young rider classification, while Remy Di Gregorio keeps his lead in the King of the Mountains competition going into the final stage.

Stage 5 will mark the final day of racing at the 48th edition of the Etoile de Besseges cycling race, with a 10.7 kilometer individual time trial in Ales, which will determine the overall winner of the race.
