Nacer Bouhani has been the premier rider for the Cofidis squad after leaving French World Tour team FDJ following the 2014 season. Bouhani made his first statement as a professional rider in 2012, when he captured the French National Road Race Championship title. The next season, Bouhani found success in the Fall one-day races, winning the Grand Prix de Fourmies in September followed by the Tour de Vendee in October. Although Bouhani had found success in 2012 and 2013, 2014 was truly a breakout year for the French sprinter. At the 2014 edition of the Giro d'Italia in May, Bouhani won stages 4,7, and 10, before taking home the red jersey as winner of the points classification. Then, at the Vuelta a Espana in August and September, Bouhani was able to capture two stage victories and wore the green jersey as leader of the points classification during stages 2 and 3. Cofidis is one of four Pro Continental teams in the 2017 Tour de France field, and Bouhani has publicly stated that it is the team's goal to capture a stage victory at this year's Tour. Bouhani will undoubtedly be looking for to capture his first Tour de France stage victory at this year's edition, and his Cofidis teammates will be looking to position him as best as possible in the final kilometers to assist Bouhani to a stage win on the sprinter-friendly stages.
Young riders Clement Venturini and Florian Senechal are also shaping up to be primary contributors and future leaders of the Cofidis squad. Venturini was able to win the overall title, as well as the points classification title, at the notable 4 Days of Dunkirk in May, while also capturing a victory on the final stage of the Tour of Austria. Senechal showed his emerging prowess in the Spring classics after finishing 10th at Dwars door Vlaanderen and 12th at Paris-Roubaix, and will be an integral part of the Cofidis squad at this year's Tour de France. At only 24 years of age, the Cofidis management will surely be looking to retain the young talent of Venturini and Senechal as the team prepares for future success.
